We publish twice a year:  Summer and Winter.  We prefer submissions during the periods of January 1 to March 31 for the Summer issue, and July 1 to September 30 for the Winter issue.

We accept essays and fiction concerning disability by two groups: individuals with a disability and those who are part of the disability community, such as a family member, caregiver, special educator, etc.

In your cover letter, include your name, mailing address, email address, disability, or connection to the disability community, and website, if applicable. Tell us a bit about yourself and your disability, how you found Pentimento, and the title(s) of your submissions(s).  Also in the cover letter, include another paragraph of biography material, written in the third person, eighty-five (85) words or less.  In the bio, briefly list publications, other credits, and awards, if applicable.  Please also state your disability or your connection to the community in your bio.

On the submission itself, please include the author’s name as a header on each page. We require that uploaded submissions be saved as Microsoft Word (.doc) or (.docx) files, single-spaced, and in a 12-point font such as Times, Times New Roman, or Courier.
